Modeling of electron-transfer kinetics in magnesium electrolytes: Influence of the solvent on the battery performance

DLR partners in collaboration with DTU and KIT colleagues have published in ChemSusChem the article entitled "Modeling of Electron-Transfer Kinetics in Magnesium Electrollytes: Influence of the solvent on the Battery Performance".

This work presents the combination of DFT and continuum modelling with experiments to provide new insights into the magneisum deposition mechanismn and the role of the solvent in general. Besides it shows a new kinetic model for electrochemical reactions, which considers the required desolvation as well as the qualitative impact of the electrochemical double layer.
